The eufy Video Doorbell 2K (Wired), is a subscription-free smart doorbell that offers a comprehensive array of features that combine security and convenience. This doorbell is equipped with motion detection, high-definition video recording with local storage options, and seamless remote connectivity through an intuitive Android or iOS-friendly app. It also offers two-way communication, which allows you to speak directly with visitors at your front door effortlessly.
The doorbell comes with an electronic chime with multiple ringtone options and adjustable volume, giving you a backup in case the app fails to send real-time notifications. Like other eufy security products that are one-time purchases, you won't need a monthly fee to enjoy its features and there are no hidden costs involved.
Let's check out the eufy video doorbell features and see how they compare to other smart wired doorbells.
The eufy Video Doorbell Wired boasts a High Definition 2560 x 1920 resolution, which ensures video quality is top-notch. Combined with advanced HDR, you'll be able to identify visitors, packages, and potential threats accurately. The camera has a 4:3 aspect ratio, which gives you a bigger viewable area from top to bottom.
The eufy Video Doorbell 2K (wired) does not offer cloud storage and solely relies on local storage with its 4GB of onboard storage. This means that all recorded data is stored locally on the device itself, and there is no option for cloud-based storage or remote access to your recordings through a cloud service. This setup can be a great option if you don't want to pay monthly fees for subscription-based services.
If you want bigger storage, the newer battery-powered version allows for storage expansion up to 128GB via a microSD card. Unfortunately, with the wired version, there is no option to increase the onboard storage beyond the initial 4GB, but you can manually delete old or unnecessary footage to free up space for new recordings.
The two-way audio feature of eufy security products enables seamless real-time communication between you and individuals at your doorstep. Whether you're at home, at work, or even miles away on vacation, you can easily respond to visitors, delivery personnel, or anyone else at your front door through the eufy app on your Android or iOS device.
The Motion Detection feature continuously monitors the area in front of your doorbell, alerting you whenever it detects any movement within its field of view. The doorbell's sensitivity to detect motion can be customized to suit your specific needs, all through the intuitive eufy app. By defining these Activity Zones, you can effectively eliminate unnecessary or less relevant motion alerts. For example, you can focus the detection on your front porch and doorstep while excluding areas like the sidewalk or the street.
Additionally, the doorbell is equipped with Human Body and Face Detection, which uses AI technology and a sophisticated algorithm to identify and differentiate human body shape and face pattern from other motion sources. This ensures you are only alerted when a human, and not a stray Cat, is at the door.
The eufy Video Doorbell 2K (wired) uses infrared (IR) LEDs to produce clear footage in low-light conditions. Thanks to High Dynamic Range (HDR) imaging, you can be assured of high clarity for backlit or low-light scenarios. HDR technology enables the camera to capture a wider range of light and dark areas in the frame, resulting in a well-balanced and detailed image, both day and night.
The eufy Video Doorbell 2K (wired) allows you to create and customize up to 3 instant responses to visitors. Here's how it works: When you receive a notification of activity at your door, whether it's a visitor, a delivery, or any other interaction, you can select one of your pre-recorded responses through the eufy app. This allows you to communicate effectively without engaging in real-time conversation, which can be particularly useful if you're busy, occupied, or need to convey specific instructions.

Check the Installation Environment:
Ensure your existing doorbell wires are functioning correctly.
If you don't have existing doorbell wires, consider contacting a professional electrician to install them.
To optimize the doorbell's view, the recommended installation height is 48 inches (1.2 meters).
Prepare the Doorbell Wiring:
Turn off the power of the doorbell circuit at your circuit breaker. If unsure, switch off the entire house's power.
Locate your existing doorbell chime in your house and remove its cover.
Bypass your doorbell chime by identifying the terminals labeled FRONT and TRANS, or the ones with wire connections.
Use the provided jumper to connect both FRONT and TRANS terminals. This bypasses your chime to ensure the doorbell functions correctly.
Mount the Video Doorbell:
Remove the existing doorbell button from your front door.
Use the Screw Hole Positioning Card provided to determine where to drill holes. Note: If mounting on a wooden door frame or wall, you may not need to drill holes; you can screw the Mounting Bracket directly.
Use a 1/4-inch (6.35mm) drill bit to create holes based on the positioning card's guidance. For wooden door frames or walls, screws can be used instead.
If you want a specific viewing angle, you can use the 15° wedge provided. Alternatively, you can use the Wasserstein 30° to 55° Horizontal Wedge Wall Mount for wider viewing angles.
If the wall material is stucco, brick, or concrete, insert anchors into the drilled holes. For wood, anchors are not necessary.
Connect the Wires:
Attach the existing doorbell wires to the terminals on the eufy Video Doorbell Wired, then securely tighten the terminal screws.
If the wires are too short, you can use the provided extension wires to lengthen them.
Peel off the films on the thermal conductive pads.
Hook the doorbell onto the bracket, then press the bottom of the doorbell to the bracket until you hear a click.
Insert the power pin into the doorbell chime and turn it clockwise.
Plug the chime into a power socket where you want it to notify you.
Switch On the Power:
Turn on the power of your house at the circuit breaker.
Follow In-App Setup Instructions:
When the doorbell ring pulses yellow, follow the in-app instructions to set up the doorbell.
If the doorbell shows a steady red light, it indicates that your doorbell transformer is not providing sufficient power to the doorbell. In this case, you'll need to upgrade the transformer to ensure proper functionality.
The eufy Video Doorbell Wired is compatible with popular voice assistants, including Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. This means you can conveniently control and monitor your doorbell using voice commands. For instance, you can ask your voice assistant to show you the live feed from your doorbell on a compatible smart display or television.
As of writing, the doorbell does not offer SmartThing, IFTTT, or HomeKit support.
