    Key Features

Now, let's dive into the key features that make the Blink Wired Floodlight Camera an outstanding addition to your home security setup. From intelligent motion detection to clear video quality and two-way communication, these features ensure your property stays protected around the clock.

    Person Detection

Person detection is a crucial feature of the Blink Wired Floodlight Camera that sets it apart from basic motion-sensing security cameras. This technology is designed to recognize and distinguish human shapes from other objects, reducing false alerts and ensuring that you are only notified when a person enters the camera's field of view.

The benefits of person detection include:

    • Reduced False Alarms: With the ability to differentiate between people and other objects, you'll receive fewer false alarms, such as those triggered by moving branches or animals.

    • Enhanced Security: Person detection increases the camera's effectiveness in alerting you to potential threats, allowing you to respond more effectively.

    • Customized Alerts: You can set up custom alerts for person detection, ensuring that you are immediately notified when the camera detects motion on your property.

    Two-Way Talk & Audio

The Blink Wired Floodlight Camera is equipped with a built-in microphone and speaker, enabling two-way communication between you and anyone near the camera. This feature allows you to engage in real-time conversations with visitors or deter intruders.

Benefits of two-way talk and audio include:

    • Remote Communication: You can communicate with visitors, delivery personnel, or potential intruders from anywhere using the Blink app on your smartphone.

    • Deterrence: The ability to speak through the camera can deter unwanted visitors, while also allowing you to guide delivery personnel or assist guests.

    • Peace of Mind: Two-way talk offers added peace of mind, allowing you to check in on loved ones or have a conversation with someone near the camera.

    Video Quality

The Blink Wired Floodlight Camera boasts impressive video quality, which is essential for capturing clear and detailed footage. It features:

    • 1080p Resolution: The camera can record video in full high-definition 1080p at 30fps, ensuring that you get crisp, detailed footage.

    • Wide Field of View: With a 143-degree field of view, the camera can cover a substantial area, reducing the need for multiple cameras.

    • Colorful and Sharp: The camera produces sharp, colorful images with minimal fish-eye distortion.

    • Clear Footage up to 20 Feet: It provides clear footage up to 20 feet away from the camera. However, it's important to note that pixelation may occur at greater distances.

    • Optimal Placement: To maximize video quality, ensure the camera is placed in an area that captures the desired field of view and minimizes obstructions.

    Enhanced Motion Detection

The Blink Wired Floodlight Camera employs advanced motion detection technology that reduces false positives and accurately identifies human or animal movement. This feature ensures that you are alerted to genuine threats while minimizing unnecessary notifications.

Key aspects of enhanced motion detection include:

    • Reduced False Alerts: The camera's algorithm is designed to distinguish between actual people or animals and other moving objects, reducing false alarms. Person Detection is available with an optional Blink Subscription Plan. This feature detects persons using embedded computer vision.

    • Customized Sensitivity: You can adjust the sensitivity settings to fine-tune motion detection according to your preferences and the camera's placement.

    • Customizable Activity Zones: Activity zones allow you to specify where the camera should monitor for motion, enhancing accuracy.

    • Instant Alerts: You receive real-time alerts on your smartphone when motion is detected, keeping you informed about activity around your property.

    Built-in Siren

The Blink Wired Floodlight Camera incorporates a built-in siren with a powerful 105dB output. This siren can be activated remotely via the Blink app, serving both as a deterrent and a way to alert neighbors or bystanders in case of suspicious activity.

The benefits of the built-in siren include:

    • Remote Activation: You can activate the siren instantly from the app, which can help deter potential intruders.

    • Neighbor Awareness: The loud siren can alert neighbors and passersby to a potential security breach, increasing community security.

    • Enhanced Security: The siren adds an additional layer of security to your property, making it less appealing to would-be thieves.

    USB Drive Storage

The Blink Wired Floodlight Camera provides the option to use USB drive storage in conjunction with the Sync Module 2. This feature allows you to store footage locally on a USB drive rather than relying solely on cloud storage.

Using USB drive storage offers several advantages:

    • Added Security: Locally stored footage is not as vulnerable to hacking or cloud service disruptions, ensuring your video records are secure.

    • No Subscription Fees: You can avoid monthly subscription fees associated with cloud storage by using USB drive storage.

    • Simultaneous Management: The Sync Module 2 allows you to manage multiple Blink cameras simultaneously, providing centralized control for all your devices.

    Night Vision

The Blink Wired Floodlight Camera's night vision capabilities are essential for around-the-clock surveillance. It includes two LED floodlights, each one producing 1,300 lumens of brightness with a color temperature of 5,000K. The camera uses infrared LEDs for night vision in black and white and also puts the two LEDs to work for recording full-color video during nighttime.

The benefits of night vision include:

    • Clear Nighttime Footage: Color night vision provides clear, detailed video even in low-light conditions.

    • 24/7 Monitoring: With night vision, your camera remains effective during the night, ensuring continuous security.

    • Black-and-White Mode: When it gets extremely dark, the camera seamlessly switches to black-and-white mode, providing visibility even in complete darkness.

    Step-by-Step Installation Guide

    Before proceeding with the installation:

Make sure the power supply has the right voltage. Connect the fixture to a power source that works with voltages between 100VAC and 240VAC and has a frequency of 50/60Hz.

    Precautions

Working with electricity can be dangerous if you don't take safety seriously. If you're not comfortable or experienced with the processes and tools, it's better to hire a certified electrician. Sometimes, your local laws and building codes may require professional help, so check before you start.

    Additionally:

    1. Only put the Blink Wired Floodlight Camera on a 4-inch round, a weatherproof electrical box that's approved by UL.

    2. If you don't already have an electrical box or aren't sure about following your local electrical codes, it's a good idea to get help from a certified electrician.

    3. Make sure the ground wire is properly connected to the light fixture. Don't install it if there's no good earth-ground connection.

    4. Be careful with the installation because there's a fire risk. Don't put it near things that can catch fire, and don't connect it to a dimmer switch or timer.

    5. To avoid falling, be extra careful when you use a ladder or something similar to put the product in place.

The Wired Floodlight Camera should be set up on a wall or a covered ceiling.

    Installation Steps

    1. Turn off the power at the breaker. It's a crucial step to keep you and your new Blink device safe. If you're unsure which breaker to switch off, turn off the main breaker for your home or reach out to a licensed electrician.

    2. Choose your location. Make sure your installation spot is about 9 feet (2.7 meters) above the ground for the best motion detection.

    3. Get your hardware ready. Ensure your Wired Floodlight Camera and the necessary hardware are ready to go, including screws, the metal mounting bracket, and the S-hook. That's all you'll need for now.

    4. Remove the existing wired floodlight if you have one. Follow the manufacturer's instructions to uninstall your current wired floodlight. Make sure to remove any wires, wire nuts, screws, and hardware that came with it.

    5. Install the mounting bracket. Use a handheld screwdriver to install the metal mounting bracket. Make sure the side marked "Front" is facing you. Tighten the screws based on your electrical box type. Choose from the screws in Bag A (standard), Bags B & C (longer), or Bags D, E, & F (for plastic electrical boxes).

    6. Inspect the wires in your electrical box. You should see one black wire (for live), one white (for neutral), and one bare metal or green (for ground).

WARNING: If you can't easily identify the wires or feel unsure about connecting them, consult a licensed electrician.

    1. Hang your Wired Floodlight Camera. Use the provided S-hook to hang the camera from the mounting bracket while connecting the wires.

    2. Find and connect the ground wires. The green wire from the Wired Floodlight Camera is the ground wire. Connect it to the green ground screw ("GND" on the bracket) and to the existing ground wire inside your electrical box, using one of the included wire nuts if needed. If you can't identify the ground wire from your electrical box, consult a licensed electrician.

    3. Find and connect the power wires. The white wire from the Wired Floodlight Camera is the neutral wire. Connect it to the white (neutral) wire from your electrical box using a wire nut. The black wire from the camera is the hot wire; connect it to the black (hot) wire from your electrical box using another wire nut. If your wires aren't clearly black or white, consult a licensed electrician.

    4. Remove the S-hook and align the light fixture to the electrical box.

    5. Position your Wired Floodlight Camera on the bracket. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to attach the threaded nut from the bag marked "H" onto the post.

    6. Insert the silicone plug "I" into the screw hole. Once the camera is secure, use outdoor silicone sealant (not included) to seal around the outside of the camera between the light fixture base and the wall or covered ceiling.

    7. Adjust the light heads and camera to your desired position. For covered ceiling mounting, rotate the camera so you can see the Blink logo when looking at the camera.

    8. Restore power at the breaker. It may take a moment for your Wired Floodlight Camera to power on. It'll be ready for setup when the green light is on, and the blue light is blinking slowly.

    9. Complete the setup in the Blink Home Monitor app (Blink mobile app) on your mobile device.
